Education Standards Volunteer
Education is central to the mission of Sanders Hand Ghana. The Education Standards Volunteer Program is designed to improve learning outcomes in underserved communities by supporting schools, teachers, and students across various academic levels.
Volunteers and interns work directly within local schools and educational initiatives to enhance classroom instruction, mentorship, and skill development.

Program Focus Areas
Volunteers may be placed in:
- Primary Schools
- Junior High Schools
- Senior High Schools
Subjects are assigned based on volunteer expertise and school needs.
Volunteer Roles
Teaching Support
Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management, and student engagement.
Subject-Specific Instruction
Teach or support lessons in:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Science
- Social Studies
- Geography
- History
Student Mentorship
Provide academic guidance and personal development mentorship to help students build confidence and set educational goals
Extracurricular & Skills Development
Support activities such as:
- Physical Education
- Debate and literacy clubs
- Football (soccer) coaching
- Leadership development sessions
Specialized Programs
Colors of Hope Art Program
Support creative expression through visual arts, painting, drawing, and cultural art workshops.
Computer Training Program
Teach digital literacy, basic computing, graphic design, web fundamentals, and introductory technology skills to help bridge the digital divide.
Program Structure
The Ghanaian academic year runs in three terms:
- First Term: September – December
- Second Term: January – April
- Third Term: May – August
Volunteers may serve during any term, with flexible start dates available depending on school schedules.
Volunteer Requirements
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
- Minimum enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor’s degree (Education preferred but not required)
- Ability to adapt to resource-limited environments
- Strong communication and classroom engagement skills
- Passion for youth empowerment and education
